BNP on Sunday warned of taking organisational action if any of its leaders and activists will take part in the upcoming Upazila Elections.

Senior joint secretary general of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi issued the warning at a press conference at the BNP's Naya Paltan central office, reports UNB.

"I would like to inform our leaders and activists at all level that they cannot join the upcoming Upazila elections. We will take organisational action if any one violates our decision," Rizvi said.

The BNP leader said they will take punitive action like expulsion from the party if any of its leaders and activists will participate in the Upazila Elections.

Even, those who become the party's primary member will not be able to participate in the Upazila Elections, Rizvi added.

Elections to 87 upazila parishads in 12 districts under Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Rajshahi divisions will be held in the first phase on March 10 while the second phase of the election is slated for March 18, the third for March 24, the fourth for March 31 and the fifth for June 18.
