A young man was killed in a clash over domination ahead of Union Parishad election between two rival groups at Doulatpur village in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Tofazzol Mia, 20, son of Selu Mia of the same village.
Local people said two rival groups --- one supporting incumbent UP member Zilu and the other supporting Safil Mia -- locked in a clash to establish domination in the area, leaving several including Tofazzol injured.
Tofazzol died on his way to the hospital.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said OC Abu Zafor of Nasirnagar Police Station.
Additional forces were deployed to avert any untoward circumstances, reports UNB.
