RAB arrests man with firearms, bombs in Manikganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a man along with a pistol, two rounds of bullet, four Molotov bombs and 10 crude bombs from Bhakum village in Singair upazila of Manikganj in the early hours of Tuesday.

The arrestee is Tamij Uddin, 55.

Major Abdul Hakim of RAB-4, said that hiding his identity, Tamij Uddin informed RAB over phone that a huge quantity of arms and bomb making materials were kept at the village.

On information, a team of RAB conducted a drive at the village around 3 am and recovered the arms and the bombs near the house of Baser Fakir.

However, tracking Tamij Uddin's mobile phone number the RAB team arrested him, UNB reported.

During primary interrogation, Tamij confessed that he had kept the arms and bombs beside the house of Baser as Tamij's son Rakib is an accused in a case over the murder of Baser's son Russel.

Tamij's family had been pressurising Baser to withdraw the case, said Baser.
