Security has been tightened in the diplomatic enclaves of Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara in the city to avert any untoward incident ahead of the Independence Day to be celebrated on Tuesday.
Contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Diplomatic Security Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Hayatul Islam Khan said they have taken stringent security measures in the diplomatic enclaves from Sunday morning following instructions from higher authorities.
He, however, said they were not informed about any specific reason for tightening the security in the areas, reports UNB.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman said, "We usually take additional security measures ahead of any national day. As the Independence Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, extra security measures have been taken for the diplomatic enclaves so that no untoward incident can take place."
