A suspect in over 20 cases, including charges of murder and drug trafficking, has been killed in an alleged shootout with RAB in Narayanganj city.

The incident occurred in the city’s Deobhog Shaheenagar area at around 4:00 am on Sunday, said RAB-11 official Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Alep Uddin.

The dead suspect was 38-year-old Rabiul Hassan. He was accused in three murder cases at the Fattulah and Sidhirganj police stations and in 20 cases of drug-related charges. RAB says he was on the police’s list of ‘top criminals’.

A RAB-11 squad was dispatched to Hassan’s house to arrest him, said RAB official Alep Uddin.

“RAB surrounded the house. He noticed their presence and began firing. RAB retaliated and advanced while firing, broke down the door and found Hassan shot.”

He was taken to Narayanganj General Hospital, where doctors on duty declared him dead.

Two RAB personnel were injured in the operation, the elite force found a pistol, four rounds of ammunition and 2,500 yaba tablets inside his house, bdnews24 reported.

According to RAB, a previous attempt had been made to arrest Hassan, but he had gotten away.
