Three die as train hits vehicle in Rajbari

At least three people died and another nine were injured after a train rammed into a small passenger vehicle in Rajbari.

The accident took place at the Sonapur rail-crossing near Jamalpur Railway Station around 12:15pm on Friday, according to AKM Ajmal Huda, chief of local police station, reports bdnews24.com.

The dead were identified as Imran Sarder, 20, Sarwar Sheikh, 22, and Shakil Sheikh, 22. Imran and Sarwar came from Baliakandi Upazila’s Bagatia village and Shakil from Tulsibrat village.

They were all workers of Razzaq Jute Mill located at Madhukhali in the Upazila. After work, they were returning home.

The vehicle carrying 12 passengers was hit by the moving train near Jamalpur Railway Station. Three of them died on the scene, said OC Huda.

The injured were taken to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
