Tk 2.32m fine realised for violating traffic rules in city

Traffic Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 4729 cases and realised fines of Tk 2.32 million in separate drives against traffic rules violators in the capital on Friday.

Besides, 28 vehicles were written off and 703 other vehicles were towed during the day-long drive, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the DMP Masudur Rahman.

Among the cases, 1007 were filed for plying vehicles on wrong side of roads, 106 for using hydraulic horns, one for not having headlights, two for using various stickers and five for using dark-tinted glass.

Besides, cases were filed against 1276 motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 63 other motorcycles were seized, he said.

The Traffic Department of the DMP is conducting special drives as part of its routine work, he said.
