Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Tuesday hoped that the verdict in the August 21 grenade attack case will be pronounced in September.

The minister said this while addressing a rally organised by Awami League at Charsamayel union at Bhola sadar upazila in the afternoon, reports UNB.

He said, "There's no doubt that BNP, its chief Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman, as well as then Home Minister Lutfozzaman Babar were involved in the brutal grenade attack."

Expressing sorrow for the 24 people, including then President of Awami Mohila League and late President Zillur Rahman's wife Ivy Rahman who were killed and over 500 others suffered splinter wounds, Tofail said the attackers terrorised people in the same month of August when Bangabandhu and his other family members were killed in 1975.

About the upcoming national election, the minister warned, "If BNP tries to create any anarchy during the election, they will be handled with a strong hand."

The rally was held with Charsamayel Union Awami League president and chairman of the union Mohiuddin Matabbar in the chair.
