A newspaper hawker was crushed under wheels of a truck on Dhaka-Sylhet highway near Velanagar Bazar area in Narsingdi at about 6 am Friday.
The deceased was identified as Kamal Mia, aged 58, a hawker of Targaon village of Polash upazila.
Locals quoting witnesses said Kamal Mia used to collect newspapers form Narsingdi Belanagar bus stand and when was crossing the road on his bicycle early in the morning, a speedy truck ran over him, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police did not detain the truck as its driver managed to escape. However, victim's body was sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, reports BSS.
