Singer, BRAC launch jt drive to train 5000 underprivileged women

SINGER Bangladesh Limited and BRAC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for launching a joint project – ‘Abolombon’.

A total of 5000 underprivileged women across the country will receive free ‘Tailoring Skill Development Training’ under this project, said a statement.

 

President & CEO of SINGER Asia Limited and Chairman, SINGER Bangladesh Limited  Mr. Gavin J. Walker and Chief Financial Officer of BRAC and BRAC International Mr. Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid signed the MoU Monday on behalf of their respective organizations.

BRAC Founder & Chairperson Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, President & CEO of SINGER World Corporation Mr. Stephen H. Goodman, SINGER Bangladesh MD & CEO Mr. MHM Fairoz and other top SINGER & BRAC Officials were present at the ceremony. 

 

Under the “SINGER-BRAC Abolombon” program 5000 women below the poverty line will be receiving free tailoring training at 20 Brac locations across the country in association with SINGER. Participants will receive all learning materials as well as accessories needed for tailoring absolutely free besides free training. The aim of the initiative is to enable the beneficiaries to earn using tailoring skills and thus bring positive change in their livelihood.
