Bangladeshi youth shot by ‘BSF’ in Chapainawabganj dies

A Bangladeshi cattle trader who was shot reportedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Jahurpur Tek border in sadar upazila on Wednesday died at a Rajshahi hospital in the early hours of Friday.
The deceased was identified as Fatik, 30, son of Abdul Latif of Sundarpur Bogdanga village in the upazila.
Victim's brother Shahidul Islam Fitu said BSF members from Pirojpur camp opened fire on Fatik at around 11:00 pm on Wednesday while other cattle traders were retuning with cattle. Fatik received bullet injuries.
Fellow traders rescued the injured and later he was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Thursday where the youth died in the early hours of Friday, UNB reported.
Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion-53 Deputy Commander Major Ekhlasur Rahman said they held a flag meeting with BSF on Friday morning when they protested the firing on the Bangladeshi cattle trader.
However, BSF denied shooting Fatik, he said.
