Courts impound assets worth over Tk 130m in 2018

Different trial courts confiscated assets worth over Tk 130 million and slapped Tk 1.39 billion as fines in 2018 in grafts cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the data available with the national anti-graft watchdog, the impounded assets include ill-gotten wealth, frozen property, cash and immovable objects.

Of the total fines, more than 1.10 billion were charged by the trial courts in Dhaka, while over 290 million by different trial courts outside of Dhaka, ACC revealed.

Of the total confiscation, over Tk 80 million were confiscated by the different trial courts in Dhaka while Tk 40 million outside of the capital.

288 people have been convicted in 151 cases across the country. Of them, 176 people were convicted in Dhaka.
