DIU organises scouts’ own and certificate distribution ceremony

The Air Rover Scout Group of Daffodil International University (DIU) has organised Scouts’ Own and 6th National COMDECA Camp Certificate Distribution Ceremony at its campus in the capital.

The group hold the ceremony followed by an Iftar Mahfil at Banquet Hall of the university on Thursday.

Professor Dr. Nizam Uddin Ahmed, Baden Powel Fellow and Vice Chancellor of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology, was present at the function as the chief.

“Scouting can play a vital role in developing career and building character of a student though which students can practice of becoming a successful leader and contribute a lot to the society,” he said.

Addressing as the chief guest the professor also said, “Introducing Rover Movement at the university, Daffodil International University has set an example to be followed by other private universities.”

He praised the performance of the DIU Air Rover Scout Group and urged the students to be more active and participative in rover movement, according to a media release.

Professor Dr. Nizam Uddin Ahmed distributed certificates among the rovers at the programme.

Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahabubul Islam, vice chancellor of the DIU and also the president of DIU Air Rover Scout Group, presided over the programme.

In the presidential address, Professor Dr. Yousuf said, “Scouting teaches the rovers how to lead a disciplined life and help to grow leadership.”

He urged the Rovers to follow and abide by the rules of Scout Motto which will help them to build themselves as a complete human being and inspire them to serve to mankind.

Flight Lt. M. Shah Alam, region secretary, Professor Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab, associate dean, faculty of humanities and social sciences, were present as special guests.

Md. Anowar Habib Kazal, senior assistant director and Farhana Rahman Setu, PRS of the DIU Air Rover Scout Group, addressed the ceremony.

A large number of Rovers from different units and regions, scout personnel’s including trainers, leaders, DIU Air Rovers (existing and former) participated in the programme.
