DMP files 2,096 cases over traffic rule violations

Traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in their simultaneous drives on the city streets on Wednesday filed 2,096 cases against different modes of vehicles for traffic rule violation.

It also realised Tk 1.254 million as fine from owners, said an official release.

Of the total cases, 173 cases were lodged for driving on wrong sides, 41 for using hydraulic horn, five for using hotter and beckon light and six others for using tinted glass.

Some 44 cases, including 35 video cases, were registered against drivers of different modes of vehicles on charges of talking over mobile phone during driving.

It also dumped 12 vehicles and wrecked 461 others, reports BSS.

Besides, 557 cases were filed against motorcycles and 23 motorbikes were seized for the traffic rule violations.
