Inflation in July has come down compared to the previous month, but registered a slight increase from the same period last year.

According to the latest official figures, consumer prices came down to 5.57 per cent in July from 5.94 last month. In July 2016, it stood at 5.4 per cent.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal released the figures by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics or BBS on Wednesday, reports bdnews24.com.

The BBS drew flak in May this year, when it switched to quarterly inflation figures from a monthly basis. It, however, backtracked this month.
