The Cyber Crime Awareness Foundation (CCA Foundation) observed ‘International Data Protection and Privacy Day’ on Monday across the country.
Hundreds of organisations and individuals also observed the day across the globe to create awareness about the importance of respecting privacy, safeguarding data and enabling trust.
The CCA Foundation called on all public and private institutions to take awareness programme on occasion of the day.
On this occasion, chapter committees of the foundation are arranging various programmes in different districts and universities of the country.
Kazi Mustafiz, president of the foundation, said protecting personal data is highly relevant with crime and cyber security.
Safeguarding data is a very important to protect cybercrime for everyone. This job is not only for government but also it is our shared responsibility to make aware of all, he said in a statement.
The volunteer organisation joins the National Cyber Security Alliance in global effort to support Data Privacy Day by becoming a 2019 champion.
In North America, the Data Privacy Day initiative is officially led by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), a non-profit, public-private partnership dedicated to promoting a safer, more secure and more trusted internet.
On occasion of the day in a statement, Michael Kaiser, executive director of NCSA, said “Data Privacy Day highlights our ever-more connected lives and the critical roles consumers and businesses play in protecting personal information and online privacy.”
“Our personal information and our habits and interests fuel the next generation of technological advancement like the Internet of Things, which will connect devices in our homes, schools and workplaces,” the NCSA director said.
It has announced its commitment to Data Privacy Day ‒ an international effort held annually on Jan. 28 to create awareness about the importance of respecting privacy, safeguarding data and enabling trust – by signing up as a Data Privacy Day 2019 Champion.
