Chittagong Vikings were eliminated from the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after Dhaka Dynamites beat them by six wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city on Monday, reports UNB.

Dynamites rallied to the Qualifier 2 of BPL which will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6:30pm. The losers of the first qualifier between Rangpur Riders and Comilla Victorians will be their opponent.

Batting first, Vikings posted 135 runs in 20 overs which the Dynamites chased down in 16.4 overs (136/4) in style.

Dynamites made a great start with Upul Tharanga and Sunil Narine adding 44 runs. They appeared comfortable in the wicket which slightly favours the bowlers.

Khaled Ahmed gave the Vikings some hope, bowling a maiden over and taking the wicket of Narine, who was batting at 31 off 16 balls. But Dynamites did not falter. Their second wicket stand added another 44 runs.

Khaled took another two wickets in succession in the 10th over bagging Rony Talukdar and Shakib Al Hasan. Dynamites's score stood at 88 for the loss of three wickets.

Tharanga (51) fell prey to Nayeem Hasan. He went down the wicket and skied a catch to long-off. Dasun Shanaka took an easy one there.

In the fifth wicket stand, Nurul Hasan and Keiron Pollard added 24 runs to ensure their team's victory. Nurul remained unbeaten on 20 and Pollard was with him scoring seven off seven balls.

Khaled took three wickets for the Vikings conceding 20 runs while Nayeem bagged one for 28.

Earlier, Dynamites bowled well to restrict their opponent to 135/8 in 20 overs. Narine took four wickets for 15 runs.

Mosaddek Hossain and Cameron Delport were the only batters for the Vikings to show some batting prowess. Vikings started their innings with an imperious effort when Yasir Ali and Delport posted 22 in three overs. But Rubel Hossain broke the opening stand.

Yasir went to drive Rubel to cover but managed an edge which was taken by wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan as a routine catch. The right-handed Yasir scored eight runs off nine balls.

Vikings were 42/1 at the end of the power play.

They lost Delport when he cut Mahmudul Hasan to backward point and ran for a run that was never there. A fielder was straight in the line and Delport ran himself out for 36 off 27 with five fours and one six.

Vikings suffered another blow when Mushfiqur Rahim got bowled while driving Narine to the cover. He struck eight off six deliveries. After 10 overs, Vikings posted 77 for three.   Shadman Islam was the fourth man to get dismissed while clearing Narine for a boundary. It was a mistimed effort from the left-hander. Shuvagata took a regular catch to remove him for 24 off 19 deliveries.

Qazi Onik bowled superbly to remove Dasun Shanaka with a short delivery that was not high enough. Shanaka, deceived by the height, was bowled out after adding seven off 10 balls.  South African all-rounder Robbie Frylinck disappointed the Vikings. He walked back to the pavilion scoring one off four deliveries. He was also dismissed by Narine.

Hardus Viljoen was Narine's fourth victim.  Mosaddek was the only man after Delport to offer some resistance, hitting 40 off 35 balls with one six and two fours in the last over. He got run out in the fifth ball of the last over. Rubel and Onik took one wicket each for the Dynamites.
