Shakib doubtful about next game due to fitness

It was a surprise to see Shakib Al Hasan in the team for Chattogram series. He has been participating in every training session for the last few days, even sweating it out in the optional practices. Doubt over his availability for the upcoming test still remains.

Shakib went to the field immediately from airport upon arrival in Chattogram from Dhaka on Sunday. This was his first practice session with the team after recovering from a finger injury.

He was seen having a long talk with selector Habibul Bashar after practice.

“We know how challenging it is to play for five days if the test goes that far. I am still doubtful about my fitness because I have trained for only four days out of which two were optional training sessions. We have to wait until the game day to take a call,” Shakib said.

Tamim Iqbal is not in the team. If Shakib does not play it will be a big blow to Bangladesh, reports bdnews24.

Expressing doubts about his availability could also be a part of a strategic mind game to keep the opposition guessing. Whatever the case may be, his decision is sure to generate interest in the Chattogram test.
