DSE, CSE open positive Tuesday

The prices of most of the shares on both bourses witnessed positive trend in early hour of trading Tuesday as optimistic investors are taking position on sector-wise large-cap stocks ahead of monetary policy announcement.

Following the previous three days’ upturn, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on positive note, but trading activities remains low.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 10 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse gained 13 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the DSE advanced nearly 7.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) gained 11 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 6.86 points or 0.11 per cent to reach at 6,202 points at 11:00am.

The two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips gained 7.06 points or 0.31 per cent to reach at 2,292 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 1.04 points or 0.07 percent to stand at 1,427 points.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at only Tk 906 million when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 136 advanced, 65 declined and 62 remained unchanged.

Beximco Pharmaceuticals was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 124 million changing hands, closely followed by IFAD Autos Tk 106 million, Square Pharma Tk 59 million, Grameenphone Tk 58 million and Monno Ceramics Tk 46 million.

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CAPSI- advancing 11 points to stand at 19129 points, also at 11:00am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also gained 7.0 points to stand at 11,550 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 47 gained, 20 declined and 22 issues remained unchanged with Tk 26 million in turnover.
