Six banks among top ten traded-cos

Ten most-traded cos grab one-fifth turnover

Ten most-traded companies captured one-fifth turnover of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Sunday with six banks among top ten-traded companies.

Market analysts said investors showed their buying spree, particularly on bank shares after the central bank's market supportive measures which widened the banks' scope to invest in the stock market.

Six banks - IFIC Bank, Exim Bank, Uttara Bank, Bank Asia, Premier Bank and City Bank featured in the day's top turnover chart.

Fortune Shoes continued to top the turnover chart with 5.10 million shares were traded on Sunday, generating a turnover of more than Tk 195 million, which was 4.40 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 4.43 billion on Sunday against Tk 2.90 billion in the previous session.

The Fortune share topped the turnover chart after the company posted a 35 per cent earnings growth in January-March, 2019 quarter.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 0.54 for January-March 2019 as against Tk 0.40 for January-March 2018.

In nine months for July 2018-March 2019, the company's EPS was Tk 1.67 as against Tk 1.19 for July 2017-March 2018.

The company's share price closed at Tk 38.20 on Sunday, advancing 1.05 per cent over the previous session.

The company's share traded between Tk 27.70 and Tk 40.40 in the last one year.

The Fortune Shoes, which was listed on the DSE in 2016, disbursed 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.25 billion, authorised capital is Tk 1.50 billion and the total number of securities is 124.93 million.

The sponsor-directors own 30.93 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 10.34 per cent and the general public 58.73 per cent as of March 31, 2019.

IFIC Bank followed next, with shares worth Tk 145 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 12.60, soaring 5.88 per cent over the previous session.

Exim Bank clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 121 million changing hands. The bank's share rose 3.30 per cent to close at Tk 12.50 each.

SK Trims Industries emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 113 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 48.40 each, soaring 10 per cent. It was also the day's highest gain.

Uttara Bank notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 106 million changing hands. The bank's share price rose 3.38 per cent to close at Tk 30.50 each.

The turnover of Bank Asia was Tk 86 million. The bank's share price closed at Tk 21.30 each, advancing 8.12 per cent over the previous session.

Power Grid Company featured a turnover of more than Tk 83 million. The state-run company's share closed at Tk 61.70 each, gaining 0.98 per cent over the previous session.

Premier Bank featured a turnover of Tk 83 million. The company's share closed at Tk 12.50, soaring 5.04 per cent.

The turnover of The City Bank was Tk 82 million. The bank's share price advanced 2.43 per cent to close at Tk 25.30 each.

Indo-Bangla Pharma also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 77 million changing hands. The company's share price soared 5.49 per cent to close at Tk 26.90 each.
