DSE, CSE mostly higher in early trading

Stocks witnessed positive trend in early hour of trading on Monday amid slow trend as many investors remained followed cautious stance ahead of monetary policy announcement.

Following the previous day’s positive note, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on positive note with trading activities remains low.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 8.12 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse advanced 7.82 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the DSE advanced nearly 35 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) gained 40 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 34.97 points or 0.56 per cent to reach at 6,182 points at 11:00am.

The two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips gained 12.12 points or 0.53 per cent to reach at 2,273 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 8.73 points or 0.61 percent to stand at 1,418 points.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at only Tk 846 million when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 169 advanced, 43 declined and 44 remained unchanged.

IFAD Autos was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 112 million changing hands, closely followed by Square Pharma Tk 108 million, Usmania Glass Tk 39 million, Golden Harvest Agro Industries Tk 37 million and National Tubes Tk 22 million.

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CAPSI- advancing 40 points to stand at 18,995 points, also at 11:00am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also gained 25 points to stand at 11,466 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 39 gained, 25 declined and 20 issues remained unchanged with Tk 25 million in turnover.
