Stocks witness volatility in early trading

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed volatility in early hour of trading on Monday as investors are active both sides of trading fence.

Following the previous 13 days’ 423 points correction, the DSE saw positive while the CSE opened lower, but trading activities remains low.

Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 2.91 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse fell 10 points at 10:30am.

After first hour of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 2.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse fell 6.68 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 2.11 points or 0.03 per cent to reach at 5,392 points at 11:00am.

The two other indices saw downward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 4.90 points or 0.24 per cent to reach at 2,004 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 0.02 point to reach at 1,265 points till then.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 2.86 billion when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 181 advanced, 51 declined and 33 remained unchanged.

Recently listed Intraco Refueling Station was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 172 million changing hands, followed by Beximco Tk 77 million, Legacy Footwear Tk 52 million, Evince Textile Tk 46 million and Monno Ceramic Industries Tk 44 million.

The port city’s bourse–the Chittagong Stock Exchange–also saw negative trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CASPI-losing 6.68 points to stand at 16,641, also at 11:00am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also fell 4.48 points to stand at 10,065 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 55 gained, 29 declined and 13 issues remained unchanged with Tk 68 million in turnover.
