Biman Bangladesh Airlines starts its operation on Dhaka-London route with its second Boeing 787 Dreamliner today (Monday), a senior Biman official said.
Earlier, the state-run aviation company scheduled next January for the operation of Hangsabalaka, he added.
This will be the first commercial flight of Hangsabalaka, Biman general manager (Public Relations) Shakil Meraj told the FE.
Biman will operate six flights a week to Heathrow instead of four flights with four Boeing 777 and Dreamliners, he added.
There will be no flight on Tuesday.
Hangsabalaka will also operate four flights on Dhaka-Dammam route and three flights on Dhaka-Bangkok route a week.
The national flag carrier received the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner Akashbeena on August 19 this year.
Terming Boeing 787 one of the best aircraft in the world, Mr Meraj said Biman has deployed this aircraft on the longest non-stop Dhaka-London route.
The flight timing on the route is 11 hours and a half.
No other domestic airline operates non-stop flight on the Dhaka-London route.
"We're providing convenient connections with Air Canada from Heathrow. It is also convenient for our Sylhet-bound passengers from London as we run London-Sylhet-Dhaka flight five times a week," the official said.
The Dreamliner has a 271 seating capacity-24 business class and 247 economy class.
Airline sources said the Biman Flight Catering Centre (BFCC) has prepared a whole new menu for Dreamliner passengers.
There are five choices for business class and five for economy class passengers.
With an all-day dining facility, the BFCC has added new food and beverages for Dreamliner passengers.
A Biman source said the cycle has been made four from the previous two for Dreamliner passengers on London route-two for summer and two for winter.
