Malaysia's natural rubber production rises to 16.3pc in June

The natural rubber production in Malaysia surged 16.3 per cent to 41,578 tonnes in June as compared with 35,761 tonnes in May, according to official data Monday.

However, the natural rubber production decreased by 17.9 per cent when compared with the same period last year, the Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the exports of natural rubber fell 8.5 per cent in June to 52,395 tonnes from the previous month, reports Xinhua.

The country remains the main destination, accounting for 55.2 per cent of total exports, followed by Germany (11.1 per cent), Iran (9.6 per cent), Turkey (2.3 per cent) and the United States (1.8 per cent).

Domestic consumption of natural rubber also fell 7.3 per cent in June month-on-month to 40,830 tonnes, with the rubber glove industry accounting for 76.9 per cent of the total consumption.

Stock of natural rubber stood at 196,410 tonnes, down by 9.2 per cent as compared with 216,217 tonnes at the end of May.
