Two Afghan policemen were killed and seven civilians injured in an attack by Taliban at a security outpost in eastern Laghman province of Afghanistan, officials said.

Sarhadi Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, said the attack took place in the district of Ali Shing on Monday night.

He said reinforcements were deployed to the scene and government forces engaged in an intense battle until they finally pushed back the insurgents.

Zwak said that top Taliban commander known as Adam Khan was killed in the attack, along four others insurgents.

The Taliban did not immediately claim responsibility for the assault, reports AP.
