Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RUCSU) Vice-President Mostakur Rahman Zahid has accused journalists of publishing reports "against RUCSU and Islami Chhatra Shibir" over the alleged assault of three students on the campus.
He also threatened to take action against journalists over the coverage.
Zahid, accompanied by RUCSU General Secretary Salauddin Ammar, raised the allegations during a media briefing on Tuesday evening.
The RUCSU VP claimed that various media outlets had presented the clash "one-sidedly" in favour of the Chhatra League.
Addressing the journalists, he said: “We will take action against the terminology you are using in your reports. Yesterday, many outlets reported the incident in a way that defended the Chhatra League.
“We are collecting reports from those present here who covered it in this manner, and we will take action against them.”
He added, “They attacked us, and we offered resistance. Why are you so hesitant to use the word 'resistance'?”
Elaborating on the issue, Ammar said: “Why are you unable to recognise what we are calling resistance as such?
“For the past two years, we have been demanding justice against individuals affiliated with the Chhatra League, pro-Awami League teachers, and those associated with them.
“We will also lodge complaints with both the university administration and police against those responsible for this incident,” he added.
