Application for first-year undergraduate (honours) students for the academic year 2023-24 has started in 9 agricultural universities of the country under the agricultural cluster admission system.
Starting today, Monday (April 22), the admission application process will continue until May 30. This year, the admission application fee has been fixed at 1200 taka.
This year's agricultural admission test will be held against 3 thousand 718 seats in 9 agricultural universities in the country. Compared to last year, the number of seats has increased by 170 this year.
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 4 without the fourth subject in the SSC or equivalent examinations of 2019/2020/2021 and the HSC or equivalent examinations of 2022/2023, with a total GPA of 8.5. Candidates who have passed the SSC or Equivalent improvement examination of 2022 can also apply.
The admission test will be held jointly in eight centres and multiple sub-centres across the country from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20.
Prof. Dr. ASM Lutful Ahasan, Vice-Chancellor of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and president of the central admission committee of the Agricultural Cluster Admission Test 2023-2024, disclosed this information in a notice published on April 17.
Author and researcher Professor Dr Md. Shahiduzzaman said that agricultural cluster admission test students face advantages and disadvantages of farm universities' cluster admission test system. Candidates do not have to appear in different universities, as the examination is conducted simultaneously in several agricultural universities. This dramatically reduces their time, money, and effort.
The researcher talked about the disadvantage of the agricultural cluster admission test; after the agricultural universities came together in the cluster system, it has been seen that the classes started late due to the long time taken to complete the admission process.
Professor Dr Sahiduzzaman also said that until 2018-19, those seeking admission to agricultural universities could apply to many universities if they had a total GPA of 7. As the GPA is fixed at 8.5, students with relatively low GPAs are denied the opportunity to apply for admission tests.
