IUBAT organises seminar on Iftar and Eid Economy of Bangladesh

Students of the Department of Economics at the IUBAT organised a seminar titled “Iftar and Eid Economy of Bangladesh” on Saturday at the open auditorium of the university.

Prof Dr Abdur Rab, vice chancellor, International University of Business Agriculture and Technology  (IUBAT) presided over the programme.

Dr Golam Rasul, professor and chair of the Department of Economics, moderated the seminar.

Eymin Hossain, a student in his fifth semester at the Department of Economics made a comprehensive presentation on Iftar and Eid economy of Bangladesh. 

Every year, during the month of Ramadan and the Eid festival, people spend a large sum of money on food, clothing, and gifts which generates a substantial amount of economic activity and employment.

He highlighted the significant impact of Iftar and Eid on Bangladesh.  

In opening remarks, Prof Rasul underlined the importance of Iftar and Eid economy in the country's overall economic growth and asked businesses to prepare for the increased demand for commodities during Ramadan and Eid and to tailor their marketing strategies accordingly.

Prof Dr Abdur Rab urged businesses and entrepreneurs to take advantage of these opportunities and asked the government to provide incentives and support for new businesses during that period.

The seminar concluded with a call for businesses to capitalise the opportunities presented by Iftar and Eid, and for the government to provide a supportive environment for the growth of this sector.

All faculty members, alumni and students of the Economics department were present at the programme.

The seminar was followed by an Iftar party.
