UODA journalism department students visit national museum

A group of students from Communication and Media Studies department of University of Development Alternative (UODA) visited Bangladesh National Museum at Shahbag in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Keeper of public education department of the museum Dr Shihab Shahriar and Assistant Keeper Rashedul Alam Pradip received the students after their arrival around 11.00am.

The visit was arranged under supervision of Mutasim Billah Nasir, a senior lecturer of Communication and Media Studies department of UODA, as part of Advanced Communication and Culture course, said a press release.

Officials of the museum guided the students during their three-hour long stay at the place of largest collection of history and heritage of Bangladesh.

Dr Shihab Shahriar informed the students that Bangladesh National Museum is the largest one not only in Bangladesh, but also in South Asia.

There are more than 83 thousand traditional items in 46 galleries in the museum, he added.

Riadul Jannat Shawon, a student of journalism department of UODA, said every student should visit the national museum to get idea about the heritage of Bangladesh.

The course teacher of Advanced Communication and Culture, Mutasim Billah Nasir, said he arranged the visit so that the student can get idea about their country's culture, history, heritage, religion, caste, ethnic group.

He thinks such visit would increase the students' interest in learning from outside of the class room and books.
