The film ‘Rickshaw Girl,’ directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, earned the SLM Top Award at the 26th SCHLINGEL International Film Festival in Germany.

This award is the highest honour awarded by the famous festival, which has been honouring outstanding films directed at children and teenagers since 1996.

The festival featured 77 feature films and 116 short films this year, with Rickshaw Girl being nominated in the International Segment.

Novera Rahman stars in Rickshaw Girl, which tells the story of a battle-hardened female rickshaw puller named Naima. Novera's real-life mother, Momena Chowdhury, plays Naima's on-screen mother in the film, which also stars Allen Shuvro, Champa, and Naresh Bhuiyan.

The film had previously been selected for the Mill Valley Film Festival in the United States, as well as the Durban International Film Festival.
