The scorching heat of the summer is making public life difficult. No respite from the heat is expected any time soon as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast the mild heatwave sweeping over five divisions will continue.
The Met Office said in its forecast that light to moderate rain and thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely at a few places over the Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over the Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barishal divisions, bdnews24.com reports.
Moderately heavy falls at places over the Chattogram and Sylhet divisions are also expected, but the weather may remain largely dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
The BMD also said that a mild heatwave is sweeping over the Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Narsingdi, Mymensingh, Chandpur, Lakshmipur, Brahmanbaria and Patuakhali, and it may continue.
Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Hoque said Dhaka may see some rain on Monday, but the heatwave is likely to continue.
He said the chances of rain are highest in Chattogram and Sylhet. Currently, it is raining in Narsingdi, which may also reach Dhaka.
