5G service will roll out at key Dhaka areas by Oct 30, says Palak

State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has directed the mobile operators to launch 5G services commercially at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's (HSIA) third terminal, Chittagong Port, Gulshan, Banani, Agargaon, and industrial areas by October 30.

The minister said this in a meeting held at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) office in the capital’s Aagargaon area on Sunday, according to local media reports.

Earlier, on December 12, 2021, mobile phone operator Teletalk launched 5G service in six places in the country on an experimental basis.

On the other hand, Grameenphone conducted the trial on July 26, 2022, and Robi on September 28, 2022, followed by Banglalink.
