In celebration of Mother's Day, many people take the opportunity to show their love and appreciation for their mothers. One of the most special and unique ways to do so is by taking their mothers on a tour. A tour with a mother is an experience that will create lasting memories and strengthen the bond between a mother and child. For many people, this is an experience they will never forget.

In Bangladesh, the bond between a mother and her child is highly valued and respected. Mothers are often seen as the backbone of the family, working tirelessly to provide for their children and ensure their happiness. It is no surprise that children want to gift their mothers some happy moments by taking them on a special tour.

For some, this may mean going on a simple day trip to a nearby town or attraction. For others, it may mean a long journey to a different part of the country. When planning a tour with your mother, it is essential to consider her interests and preferences.

For example, if she loves nature, a trip to the Sundarbans or Cox's Bazar might be the perfect destination. Or if she enjoys history and culture, visiting any museum or the ancient ruins of Mahasthangarh or Paharpur might be more suitable.

"My mother has spent her whole life in the kitchen. But she raised me as an independent woman who can go wherever she wants. I felt the urge to take her somewhere she had never dreamt about, to give it a break in her routine life," said Mehrin Nawar, a government jobholder.

Mehrin and her elder brother planned to take Munia Akter, their mother, to Sundarbans in 2010. That was the first time they took their parents on a tour. It was more special for Mrs Munia as it was her first-time visit to a tourist destination.

"It has now become a regular business. Since that Sundarban trip, we (me and my brother) take our parents somewhere out of Dhaka every year. Sometimes my father and brother stay behind, and my mother and I make our trips."

Taking a mother on a tour is not just about the destination but also the journey. For many people, the time spent travelling with their mother is just as important as the destination itself. It is a chance to catch up, share stories, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Farzana Nisha, a kindergarten teacher, took her mother on a tour of the tea gardens in Sylhet. The journey was long and tiring, but Nisha and her mother made the most of it.

"It was a long journey, but we had so much fun together," Nisha says. "We laughed, played games, and shared many untold stories. It was a chance to connect with my mother in a way that I never had before."

However, planning a tour with a mother can sometimes be difficult. With busy schedules and other responsibilities, finding the time and resources to plan a trip can seem overwhelming. It is also important to consider the level of physical activity involved in a tour, especially if the mother has any health issues.

Despite these obstacles, with some planning and creativity, it is possible to plan a tour that both mother and child can enjoy.

Alif Ahmed is a Mohammadpur resident working in a private bank. Had he ever taken his mother on a tour? "Not yet," he replied, "Haven't got the chance yet, but I definitely want to. My mother's dream is to see the ocean and I'll certainly take her to Cox's Bazar, soon."

Why not now? What is stopping Alif? He continued, "Mother is not fit for an 8/9 hour bus journey to Cox's Bazar. She has several physical conditions. I am hence saving money to make it by air."

Taking your mother on tour is a great way to show your gratitude towards her for all the sacrifices she has made throughout her life. Mothers are often the unsung heroes of a family, working tirelessly to ensure their children have everything they need. They are the ones who put their children's needs before their own, sacrificing their desires and aspirations to ensure that their children have a brighter future. It is, therefore, imperative to show them that their efforts are appreciated and valued.

As Mahamuda Khatun, mother of a civil engineer boy and an undergraduate girl, shares, "When my children take me on tour, it makes me feel loved and appreciated. It shows that they care about me and want to spend time with me."

"It's not just about the destination or the activities, but the fact that they have taken the time out of their busy schedules to plan something special for me. It's a wonderful feeling. They made me feel special."

A tour with the mother is a sweet and special way for the children to show love and appreciation toward her. While it may be challenging to plan a tour, there are always alternatives that can bring just as much joy and love to a mother; whether it is a trip to the beach, a visit to a local museum, or a simple home-cooked meal, the effort and thought behind the gesture matter the most. So, if you haven't already, consider taking your mother on a tour and show her how much you love and appreciate her.
