ACC prosecutes Jubo Mohila League leader Papia, her husband

Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday filed a case against the expelled general secretary of Jubo Mohila League’s Narsingdi district unit Shamima Nur Papia, and her husband Mofizur Rahman Sumon for embezzling Tk 60.2 million, reports UNB.

Deputy director Shamim Ara Momtaj filed the case at Dhaka Coordinated Office-1.

The commission launched an inquiry on February 22 against Papia on charge of her alleged involvement in accumulating illegal wealth.

On February 23, the Rapid Action Battalion raided two flats belonging to Papia and Sumon after arresting them at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on February 22. RAB seized counterfeit notes, foreign currencies and around Tk 0.25 million in cash.

RAB also found around Tk 5.8 million in cash raiding two flats on Indira Road in Dhaka and also a presidential suite at a five-star hotel.
