Akbar Hossain has resigned from his post as press minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in London, citing personal and family reasons.
In a Facebook post, he said it was not possible for him to continue in the role for “purely personal and family reasons”.
“The matter is not related to anything else,” he wrote.
Akbar was appointed to the post in November 2024 on a two-year contract.
A journalism graduate of Dhaka University, Akbar worked in both Bangla and English media.
Before taking up the London posting, he was serving as a senior correspondent for the BBC World Service in Dhaka, contributing to its Bangla and English services.
