The insurgent group led by Apu Chakma is known to be involved in extortion, arms dealing and other criminal activities in Bandarban and adjoining areas.

A team from Bandarban Army Zone conducted the operation at his hideout at Noapatang at around 5:00 am on April 26.

Following a brief exchange of fire, the army raided the hideout and recovered a 9 mm loaded pistol, a magazine of AK-47 rifle, ammunition bundlers, sharp domestic weapons, commando knives, walkie-talkie, solar charger, electronic items, mobile phones, JSS books, diaries, multiple uniforms, and shoes.

However, the miscreants fled into the forest during the operation.
