A 15-year-old Bangladeshi girl has reportedly been missing in Portugal for the past three days.
According to her family, Tahrim Begum, 15, has been missing since Friday afternoon, reports bdnews24.com.
They have sought assistance from both the local authorities and the Embassy of Bangladesh in Portugal to help locate her.
Tahrim is the daughter of Sitab Mia, originally from Moulvibazar district in Bangladesh. She had been living with her family in Vila Nova de Milfontes.
Sitab Mia said, "Tahrim was last seen in the Vila Nova de Milfontes area that day. Since then, she has not returned home. We have searched among relatives, acquaintances, and all possible locations, but have not been able to find any trace of her."
He added that the matter has already been reported to Portugal's National Republican Guard (GNR). A written notification has also been submitted to the Embassy of Bangladesh.
"We are making every possible effort to find our daughter. We have sought the cooperation of both the authorities and the embassy. We appeal to everyone to help bring her home safely," Sitab said.
A Bangladesh Embassy official said the embassy is maintaining close contact with Tahrim's family. It is also coordinating regularly with the relevant Portuguese authorities and law-enforcing agencies.
The official said, "We are treating this matter with the utmost importance. The embassy will continue to provide all possible assistance to help locate the girl quickly and ensure her safe return to her family."
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Tahrim is requested to contact the nearest GNR office or her father, Sitab Mia, at +351 920 379 872.
