Amar Bangladesh Party candidate Asaduzzaman Bhuiyan, widely known as Barrister Fuad, has suffered a crushing defeat in the Barisal-3 (Muladi–Babuganj) constituency, losing to BNP's Zainal Abedin by a margin of nearly 21,000 votes, according to unofficial results.
The result was announced late Thursday night by Babuganj Upazila Executive Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Asma Ul Husna.
Based on results from all 126 polling centres, BNP-nominated candidate Zainal Abedin secured 78,131 votes, while Barrister Fuad, who contested under the eagle symbol, received 57,149 votes.
