Rajshahi University (RU) students started a fresh protest programme on Sunday pressing for their nine points of demand for RU reforms.

The protestors brought out a march from the Paris Road at noon and took position in front of the administrative building.

Earlier several times, they staged demonstrations to realise the same demands.

The protesting students said they have been placing the nine-point of demands for a long time, but due to the silent role of the administration, they have been forced to go for a strict programme this time.

Their demands include announcement of a roadmap for full residency, roll-free assessment of exam papers and opportunity to challenge papers, 24-hour security on the campus, upgrading the medical center to a full-fledged hospital with 50 beds, making all administrative activities digital and online-based, adequate subsidy for quality food in the hall dining, infrastructural and technological renovation of the central library, implementation of full TSCC, and early announcement of the full schedule of RUCSU polls. Former coordinator Salahuddin Ammar said, "These nine points are fair and timely demands of the students. Only goodwill and administrative initiative are enough to implement them".

Another student, Ariful Islam, said, "We will continue the movement until our demands are met. If necessary, we will take more stringent measures."

In the protest march, the students went through various important roads on the campus and took position in front of the administrative building.
