A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Monday seeking its order on the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) to probe the role of Gulf Air authorities in connection with the death of its pilot Captain Mohannad Yousef Hassan Al Hindi.

Deceased Al Hindi’s mother Samiha Mustafa Abdullah Ayyash and his sister Tala Elhendy Josephano jointly filed the writ petition challenging the failure and refusal of CAAB to conduct an inquiry into the Gulf Air’s role.

Gulf Air pilot Mohannad Yousef Hassan Al Hindi passed away on December 14, 2022, at United Hospital in Dhaka. His family members brought alallegationsf negligence against both United Hospital and Gulf Air.

In the petition, they also prayed to the HC for issuing an order on CAAB to impose sanctions and penalties upon the Gulf Air.

Writ petitioners’ lawyer Barrister Saqeb Mahbub said that CAAB has been refusing to probe the role of Gulf Air in connection with the death of its pilot Mohannad Youssef Hassan Al Hindi though there is no legal bar for CAAB to conduct the inquiry.

Hearing of the petition may be held next week, the lawyer added.
