The death toll from floods and landslides triggered by days of heavy rains in the Chattogram and Sylhet regions has risen to 58.
In a statement on Thursday, the government said nearly 1.22 million people were affected by almost a week of floods and landslides.
According to the disaster management ministry, 362 unions and eight municipalities in 57 Upazilas are still flooded while 52,493 families are marooned.
Cox’s Bazar tops the list of fatalities with 32 deaths, including 13 Rohingya refugees, followed by 15 in Chattogram and seven in Bandarban.
The torrential rains have left more than 40 people injured since Jul 5.
One person is still missing in Cox’s Bazar.
The disaster has left 849 people homeless.
The government has allocated Tk 51.5 million in cash for the flood-affected districts in addition to 9,050 tonnes of rice and 4,200 bundles of tin sheets.
