At least 10 workers suffered burn injuries after a fire reportedly triggered by an electrical short circuit broke out at a salt factory in Paschim Gomdandi area in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram on Thursday.
The injured workers were rescued and taken to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit and other relevant wards of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment, said Nurul Alam Ashiq, in-charge of the CMCH police outpost.
Police and witnesses said the workers were on duty when the fire broke out, leaving them injured.
Nurul Alam Ashiq said four of the critically injured patients were referred to the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
