The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested former minister and senior Awami League leader Mohammad Faruk Khan.
A team of the elite police unit picked him up around 1:00 am on Tuesday (15 October) from his cantonment residence, the Detective Branch (DB) of police said.
DB Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick said the RAB team later handed him over to them.
He said the arrest followed several murder cases filed against Faruk Khan, who served as a minister from 2009-2013 and in January-August 2024, in different police stations.
He is also a former member of parliament of the Gopalganj-1 constituency from 1996-2024.
Faruk Khan retired as a lieutenant colonel from Bangladesh Army after serving the military from 1971-1995.
