Ferry operation on Shimulia-Kathalbari route in Munshiganj has been suspended owing to erosion threat amid strong current in the Padma River.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) has urged people to use Daulatdia-Paturia as the alternative route, said Senior Information Officer of Shipping Ministry Md Jahangir Alam Khan.
Earlier on Wednesday, Shimulia ferry ghat saw massive erosion, forcing the authorities to suspend ferry movement for around 30 minutes, reports UNB.
The terminal-3, a mosque, a shop and adjacent swathes went into the gorge of the Padma River during the erosion.
