In separate messages on Sunday, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar expressed deep sorrow and condolences over the loss of life and damage caused by the floods in Bangladesh.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed grief over the tragic loss of lives and the widespread destruction caused by the devastating floods and landslides in Bangladesh.

He said that Pakistan stands firmly with the Government and the people of Bangladesh at this difficult time.

The President extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and the well-being of all those affected.

Pakistan Prime Minister Mr. Sharif said: "Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and widespread devastation caused by the severe floods and landslide in Bangladesh.

On Behalf of the people of Pakistan, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and express solidarity with the government and people of Bangladesh. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and the safety of all those affected."

In another condolence, Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Ishaq Dar said, "I am deeply saddened by the devastating floods and landslides in Bangladesh.

My heartfelt condolence go to the families who have lost their loved ones, and my thoughts and prayers are with all those displaced and affected  by the disaster."

The deputy prime minister Mr. Dar said, "I pay tribute to the courage and dedication of the rescue personnel, armed forces, medical teams and relief workers who are working tirelessly to assist those in need."

He also said, "Pakistan stands in solidarity with the government and people of Bangladesh, and I pray for the success of the ongoing rescue and relief efforts and for the safety of all those impacted."

Floods and landslides have hit seven districts in the southeast and northeast of the country - Khagrachari, Rangamati, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, many Upazillas of Chattogram– Banshakhali, Sathkania, Chandanaish  --- Moulvibazar and Habiganj.

Besides, people of Chittagong city are also impacted largely by the incessant rainfall and many areas of the city remained under water.    

According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, 10,22,963 people in seven districts have been affected by the disaster caused by continuous rains and landslides.

The Chattogram Divisional Office reported 50 deaths caused by floods and landslides in the country's southeastern and northeastern regions.
