BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday alleged that the government is conducting various 'false campaigns' to create a rift in their party.
Speaking at a discussion, he also alleged that Tejgaon thana unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) acting president Zakir Hossain Milon died due to torture in police custody as part of the 'government's plan' to eliminate its opponents.
"The government is hatching various conspiracies against us. Various newspapers are running news, while false campaigns are there on Facebook against us to create a rift in BNP and its leadership," he said.
The BNP leader came up with the allegation while speaking at a discussion arranged by Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Kalyan Front at the Jatiya Press Club, demanding BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and its standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy's release from jail.
He alleged that the government is making efforts to create division among BNP leaders as it seriously fears people's strength, reports UNB.
