Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinees have blocked a major road in Dhaka’s Uttara as part of their previously announced "Long march to the Ministry of Education" programme.
After finishing Wednesday's examination, around 1:30 pm, the students took to the street in front of the BNS Center on the Dhaka–Mymensingh Highway, bringing traffic to a standstill.
The protesters have blocked all four lanes of the highway, completely halting traffic movement.
Among those present were students from RAJUK Uttara Model College, Nawab Habibullah College, and Uttara High School.
One student from Nawab Habibullah College said, "We are standing up for our rights. We demand the resignation of the education minister. We will continue our long march."
The movement, which began with demands to postpone the HSC and equivalent examinations, escalated on Tuesday with road blockades in several areas, confrontations with police, and calls for the education minister's resignation.
No resolution, however, has yet been reached.
In response to the protesters' demands, the government has stated that examinations will continue as scheduled across the country, except in the flood-affected districts of the Chattogram Division.
Meanwhile, the protesting students had warned that if Wednesday's examinations were not postponed, they would stage a "long march" toward the Secretariat.
Despite the protests, the sixth day of the HSC and equivalent examinations was held on Wednesday.
The demand to postpone the examinations stems from severe flooding affecting parts of the Chattogram and Sylhet regions.
