State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu has received the "Commitment to the Number of the Civil Merit Order", the highest civil honour of Spain.
Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh Alvaro de Salas handed over the award to Nasrul in the city on February 17.
Spanish Monarch Felipe VI gave the award to Nasrul for his contributions to developing the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Spain, reports BSS.
"Through this, the relations between the two countries will become stronger in the future and Spain feels proud to adorn the state minister with the honour," the Spanish ambassador said.
Nasrul Hamid, on the occasion, thanked Spain for its continuous support to Bangladesh in the UN on different issues.
"Bangladesh and Spain hold the same views on global warming, migration, refugee crises, militancy and world peace," he said, thanking the Spanish King for his kind gesture.
