The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an associate of expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Samrat from Charnoabad in Bhola sadar upazila on Tuesday.
The arrestee was identified as Zakir Hossain, 45, business partner of Samrat and son of Abdul Mannan.
Tipped-off, a team of RAB conducted a drive in the area on early Tuesday and arrested Zakir along with a pistol, four bullets, four bottles of liquor and two mobile phones, said Enayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
However, police confirmed the arrest around 10:00pm.
Two separate cases were filed in this connection, says a UNB report.
Police said Zakir was a resident of Dhaka and went into hiding after the arrest of Samrat.
RAB arrested Samrat and Arman from Chauddagram upazila in Cumilla on October 6.
A mobile court, led by RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam, sentenced Samrat to six months’ imprisonment under the Wildlife Conservation Act after the elite force recovered two hides of kangaroo from his Kakrail office.
He was then sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
