Speaker of Parliament Hafiz Uddin Ahmad has left Dhaka for Qatar to convey a condolence message from the prime minister of Bangladesh following the demise of the Gulf nation's former emir.
The Parliament Secretariat said on Tuesday that the speaker departed from Shahjalal International Airport at 11:20 am, bdnews24.com reports.
During the visit, he will hold a courtesy meeting with current Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on behalf of Tarique Rahman over the death of former emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, widely regarded as the architect of modern Qatar.
Hafiz Uddin is scheduled to return home on July 16.
